Vanilla Ice Cream Recipe
Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream No Churn
Vanilla ice cream is so versatile and one of those delicious standard flavours. So when deciding to make a no churn ice cream I knew I wanted to make a good quality Vanilla ice cream recipe and keep our old ice cream maker on the shelf.
To make no churn homemade ice cream all you need is a mixer, a spatula and a bread pan. As an added bonus the recipe has no eggs, or colours which makes it fantastic for those of us with allergies.
Vanilla Ice Cream Ingredients
This vanilla ice cream recipe only requires five simple ingredients. Using heavy cream (whipping cream) and real vanilla beans and pure vanilla extract will result in the best flavour. Avoid using imitation vanilla in this recipe as the ice cream features a classic vanilla flavour. Imitation vanilla does not achieve the same flavour result.
2 cups heavy cream
1 14oz can sweetened condensed milk
2 vanilla beans
pinch of salt
1 tbsp real vanilla extract
If you can’t find vanilla beans (Costco is the cheapest) you can substitute for vanilla bean past or by adding 2 tbsp of real vanilla extract. Using real vanilla beans are worth the effort. I typically find mine at Costco or the Bulk Barn, but Costco is cheaper.
Instead of using sugar un-churned ice cream uses condensed milk to sweeten the ice cream and lower the freezing point to make the ice cream smooth and creamy.
Vanilla Ice Cream Instructions
Take a large bread pan. Line with tin foil and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, add the heavy cream. Beat on medium high speed until fluffy and firm (3 to 5 minutes).
Add the condensed milk, vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to the whipped cream.
Using a spatula, fold the ingredients together without stirring, until there are no streaks and the mixture is uniform.
Slice the vanilla beans and scrape out the centers. Add the vanilla to the ice cream mixture. Stir until incorporated.
Take the tin foil lined bread pan and transfer the ice cream mixture into the pan. Spread smooth.
Cover with plastic wrap and place in the freezer for 6-8 hours until solid and and easy to scoop.
Serving Vanilla Ice Cream
Vanilla ice cream is so versatile. You can add as a compliment to all sorts of dessert recipes from apple pie to cream puffs. Crumble cookies on top. Add sprinkles or chocolate chips. Top it with any sort of berries you enjoy.
Or serve it old school like I did. We were working outside on the deck so I popped in the house and served him the ice cream cone you see in the pin images. I tell you a couple of scoops of vanilla ice cream in a waffle cone was perfection.
