1 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
3green onions chopped fine
½tsponion powder
1 tspparsley
¾tspdill weed
½ tsppepper
1tspvinegaror lemon juice
½ cup crispy bacon bitsoptional
Instructions
If adding bacon, fry about half of pound of bacon until crispy, cut or crumble into tiny pieces. Set aside to cool. If not using bacon skip this step.
In a mixing bowl add the mayonnaise and sour cream. Mix until blended and smooth
Place all the spices into a small bowl and mix together to blend. Add the spices to the mayonaise and sour cream mixture. Add the vinegar and blend. Start with 1 tsp and add more if you want to increase the tangy flavour.
Grate the cheddar finely and add it to the to mayonnaise mixture.
Wash and slice the green onions, add them to the dip.
The bacon can be quite salty depending on the branch you choose. My original recipe included salt, but I find the amount of salt in both cheese and bacon varies by brand. Now I skip the salt and suggest adding 1/4 cup of the bacon to your homemade ranch dip. Taste it for salt, and add the rest of the bacon if you like.
