Welsh Cake Recipe for Valentines Day on a Budget
A unique idea for Valentines Day Breakfast or a English tea.

baking powder

butter

cup
currants

egg

Instructions
In a large bowl put in the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and spices. Mix really well.
Add the butter and cut in until crumbly (smaller than pea-sized bits). Add the currants. Make a well in the center.
Beat the egg and milk together. Pour into the well. Mix together like you would biscuit dough.
Preheat a heavy frying over medium heat.
Roll out your dough on a floured surface until 1/4 inch thick. Cut the dough with a heart-shaped cookie cutter.
Melt a tsp of butter in the frying pan and add your welsh cakes. Brown them for 2 to 3 minutes on each side. Roll in sugar while still hot.
