How to Make Caramel Apple Dip

Step 1:

Place the softened cream cheese in a large mixing bowl. Using an electric mixer, beat on high speed until smooth and creamy.

Step 2:

Add 1/2 cup caramel sauce, brown sugar (if using), vanilla extract, and salt. Beat on medium speed until smooth and well combined.

Step 3:

If making the fall variation, add a pinch of cinnamon or apple pie spice. Mix until fully incorporated. For fall, when warm spices are so popular, I like adding a little spice flavor to complement the apples and caramel.

Step 4:

In a cold mixing bowl, add the whipping cream. Beat on high speed until stiff peaks form and the cream holds its shape.

Step 5:

Add the whipped cream to the cream cheese mixture. Gently fold together with a spatula until combined, light, and fluffy.

How to Keep Apple Slices from Browning

If you’re serving this caramel apple dip at a party or gathering, you can keep apple slices looking fresh by soaking them in a mixture of 2 cups cold water and 1 tablespoon lemon juice for 3 to 5 minutes. Drain well and pat dry with a clean cloth before serving.

When serving this dip to family and friends at home, I usually skip this step and simply slice the apples right before serving. Freshly cut apples look beautiful and appetizing, and it’s one less step.

How to Make Caramel Apple Dip Ahead of Time

This recipe uses real whipped cream because of my personal preference for its fresh flavor and light texture. If made with whipped cream, the dip can be prepared the day before serving and will keep its consistency for about a day afterward when stored covered in the refrigerator.

If you’d like a dip that lasts longer, I suggest using an 8-ounce container of thawed Cool Whip instead of the whipped cream. The flavor is slightly different, but the dip will stay fresh and maintain its texture for up to 3 days when refrigerated.
