Easy DIY Spring Wreath with Dollar Tree Supplies
This DIY spring wreath Dollar Tree craft is an easy project featuring a cheerful floral wooden bunny, making it perfect for both Spring and Easter. The Dollar Tree and Dollar Store have greatly improved their craft selections, making it easier than ever to create pretty seasonal decor on a budget.
If you need to purchase all of the supplies for this bunny spring wreath, it should cost around $15. If you already have similar materials in your craft stash, you can make it for even less. It is a bright, colorful wreath that works well on a front door, but it can also be hung anywhere you want to add a pop of Spring color.
It is still early for Spring where I live, and like every year, I am eager for the season to arrive. Since bunnies are my favorite part of Spring, I decided to use one as the focal point of this DIY spring wreath. We will start by creating the wooden bunny, then move on to building the floral wreath.
How to Make a DIY Spring Wreath
Spring Wreath DIY Supplies List
For the Wooden Bunny
- Wooden bunny cut-out
- White craft paint
- Soft pink craft paint
- Flower wall sticker
- Small paint brush
For the Wreath
- Large 15-inch 4 wire wreath form
- 2 packages of white rope, (the flat paper wrapped kind is faster to use)
- Faux flowers with stems, (choose your favorite Spring flowers)
- Floral wire
- Small wire cutters
- Pussy willow branches
- Ribbon for a bow
- Hot glue gun
Use whatever faux florals you like. I considered using faux greenery so the wreath base could be reused year round, but Spring to me means flowers. I especially love those little purple flowers from the Dollar Tree.
Making the Wooden Bunny
Making the wooden bunny is simple with just three steps: dismantle, paint, and sticker.
Step 1: Dismantle
If your bunny has pieces glued on, start by carefully prying them off. I used a Cricut tool to slide underneath and gently lift off the ear and tail. Some glue pulled wood from the front, so I simply flipped the bunny and used the other side as the front.
Step 2: Paint
Paint the front and back of the bunny with two coats of white craft paint, letting the paint dry between coats. Craft paint dries quickly, but I painted mine the day before to allow plenty of drying time.
My bunny had an ear and tail, so I painted the front and edges in a soft pink color.

Step 3: Apply the Dollar Tree Flower Sticker
I recently found a Dollar Tree with a great selection of transfers and stickers, and this is my first project using them. I was very happy with how they worked.
Start by choosing a large floral wall sticker. Place the bunny on top and adjust it until you find the section of the design you like best. Trace the bunny shape onto the sticker.
Cut out the sticker just inside the pencil outline. Peel off the backing, place it on the wooden bunny, and rub it smooth.
I did not seal my bunny, but you can add a layer of Mod Podge if you prefer. My bunny also has a hanging hole at the top, which I left open so I could attach it to the wreath later with a small bow.

Carefully apply the sticker to the front of your painted wooden bunny.
Once the bunny is finished, set it aside and we will start making the wreath.
Making the Wreath Backdrop
Step 1: Cover the Inner 3 Wires with Rope
Doing the wreath in two layers, with a white inner section and an outer ring of flowers, creates a fub dimensional look. The white center contrasts with the bunny, and the purple flowers frame it, making this an easy wreath to decorate without worrying about perfect flower placement.
Take your wreath form, and find the inner three wire rings. Wrap the white cord repeatedly around the three innermost wires.
Weave a short tail of rope into the wreath form first, then cover it as you wrap. Push the rope up from the outside, leaving the outermost wire ring unwrapped, and pass the rope through the center of the wreath.
Continue wrapping around the wreath, keeping the rope tight and full. Add an extra wrap along each side of the wire cross pieces for a fuller look.

I thought this step would take a couple of hours, but it went surprisingly fast because of the flat paper wrapped rope. The first few passes can feel snug, but the rope becomes easier to feed through as the package gets smaller.
When you reach the end of a rope package, tuck a short tail into the wrapped section, then attach the next rope and continue. Wrapping the full wreath took about half an hour.

Step 2 – Encircle the Wreath with Flowers
The white center paired with an outer ring of flowers creates a soft, two tone look that is both pretty and easy to assemble.
To encircle the wreath with flowers, cut the wire stem of each flower to about 5 inches long. Then cut a piece of floral wire about a foot long. Lay the flower alongside the side of the wreath, running the stem down the wreath form’s wires.
Attach the wire and then begin wrapping the stem with it. Do not wrap the flower itself. Spend some time arranging the leaves so the wire does not squish them. After you have the first inch or two of the stem wired in, start with the next flower and repeat the process.

This is an easy way to arrange flowers. Simply line them up all around the outer edge of the wreath. When you reach the end of the first flower stem, make sure it is securely wired in.
Continue working your way around the outer wire of the wreath. Once finished, turn the wreath over and check for any loose stems. If you find any, tuck them into an existing wire wrap or add a bit of extra wire to secure them.
DIY Spring Wreath Video Tutorial
If you prefer a step by step video, I have shared a full tutorial on YouTube. It walks through the entire DIY Spring wreath, including how to make the wooden bunny.

Step 3 – Putting it All Together
Now that both the bunny and the wreath background are finished, it is time to assemble everything. Add the bunny, then create a floral arrangement using pussy willows, flowers, and a green ribbon.

Step 1 – Securing Spring Bunny to Wreath
Secure the top of the Spring bunny to the wreath using ribbon ties threaded through a couple of the rope wraps.
Step 2 – Make the Flower Arrangement and Ribbon
Begin by trimming the pussy willow branches and removing any excess stems. Trim the main flower, then wire it together with the pussy willows.

Attach the floral arrangement to the wreath form using floral wire, leaving space for the ribbon. Cover any visible wire by wrapping it with ribbon.
I substituted a one-inch ribbon for a thinner ribbon I had on hand. To make the bow, I wrapped the ribbon around cardboard, wired the center, and added long ribbon tails. If you want a step-by-step visual, the YouTube video linked above shows this process in detail.
After attaching the floral arrangement and ribbon, I hung the Spring wreath on the front door as it was. I did not use a separate wreath hanger, choosing instead to hang it from the outer wire.
The DIY Spring wreath is the perfect addition to our front porch to welcome Spring. Spring wreaths are such an easy way to celebrate the season, and like this one, they can be inexpensive when you make your own. The weather here is still early Spring, so I cannot put plants outside yet, but this wreath is a fun way to bring Spring into our home decor.
