How to Make Strawberry Ghosts for Halloween

Ingredients for Strawberry Ghosts

You only need three simple ingredients to make these cute strawberry ghosts, so they are quick and easy to put together for Halloween.

  • 2 pounds fresh strawberries
  • 24 ounces vanilla almond bark
  • About 8 ounces chocolate chips

Step 1: Prepare the Strawberries

Wash the strawberries and dry them very well. Leave the little green stems on. They add a fun touch of “hair” to the ghosts and make handy little holders for dipping and eating.

Step 2: Melt the Vanilla Almond Bark

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Break the vanilla almond bark into pieces and place it in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring well between each one. The almond bark will continue to melt as you stir, so keep stirring until it is smooth before heating it again.

Step 3: Dip the Strawberries

Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted vanilla almond bark. Let some of the excess coating drip off, but not all of it.

Place the strawberry on the parchment paper, push it forward slightly, then drag it back about half an inch. This leaves a little trail of almond bark behind the strawberry to form the ghost tail.

Step 4: Chill the Dipped Strawberries

Place the dipped strawberries in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes, or until the vanilla almond bark is firm and set.

Step 5: Add the Ghost Faces

Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 20-second increments, stirring well between each one, until melted and smooth.

Transfer the melted chocolate to a piping bag and snip off just the tip. Pipe simple eyes and a mouth onto each strawberry ghost.

Step 6: Chill Until Set

Return the strawberry ghosts to the refrigerator for another 30 minutes, or until the chocolate faces are completely set.

Once firm, they are ready to serve and enjoy.

They look especially cute lined up on a serving tray, like a little ghost parade ready for the Halloween party. The different strawberry shapes give each ghost its own personality, which makes the whole tray even more fun.
