Two old fashioned glasses filled with bright red Negroni cocktail. The Negroni cocktails are garnished with orange twists and are sitting on a bright white napkin.

This cocktail is very strong, its a sipper you stir and enjoy before a meal. Campari has a very strong bitter flavour with orange and is popular around the world.

My Hubs loves this cocktail, but its too strong for me. What can I say my alcohol tolerance is terrible. Like drinking a good Glenfiddich scotch, I love it, but only steal a sip or two. If you enjoy a strong cocktail give this Negroni a try.

Negroni Cocktail Ingredients

1 oz. Gin
1 oz. Sweet vermouth

1 oz. Campari
Fresh orange peel

I happen to have a anaphylactic allergy to food colors, so I am unable to order beautiful cocktails like the Negroni in the bar. In the bar I cannot risk drinking anything that has colour. My solution is making different types of cocktails at home. I have a Drinks and Beverage board on Pinterest that I have started to populate with all my cocktail recipes. I hope you check it out.

How Did the Negroni get such a Weird Name?

The Negroni cocktail is named after the count Camillo Negroni. The same year this cocktail was invented the Negroni Distillery opened in Italy. The distillery named their bottled version Antico Negroni and its still being produced. If interested here is the Original Story of the Negroni.
