DIY Sparkly Office Supply Crafts
An Easy Tween Craft or Blingy Hands Off Idea for You
These over the top sparkly DIY office supply craft is to make my office supplies stand out as mine alone. Hubs won’t ever touch them. These over the top sparkly office supplies have too much glitz and glam for Hubs to ever touch them. I also think they will be a wonderful office supply craft to make with my tween granddaughters.
Here are the office supplies including my shiny new clipboard.
You see that these are pretty feminine office supplies, but sad to say not feminine enough that Hubs will cringe at using them, but I am about to take care of that.
The Clipboard
I love this new turquoise colour your seeing everywhere lately. I bet the products sells like crazy, I certainly am drawn to it. In addition to the clipboard, you will need a few simple craft supplies.
Sparkly ribbon
A brooch or other center
Needle and thread (optional)
Florists wire
Hot glue gun
Stick on bling embellishments
Begin by tying the bow. The sparkly I had in my stash wasn’t wired and the material is stiff I got around this by sewing the ribbon first to create a bow, instead of twisting it. Weaving the needle through the ribbon and pulling it tight, creating the nice bunched look you typically get when you pinch wire ribbon.
k
Look for a clipboard that has a little tab on top, or something for hanging your clipboard. This is where you attach the bow to the clipboard using florists wire. Don’t worry about the center the brooch will cover it. You can see the little tab in the picture.

This brooch sat in a drawer for about ten years never worn. My first plan was to simply pin it on but the brooch broke. So I weaved some florist wire around the brooch and pulled it tight so it wouldn’t show, then wired the brooch to the clipboard’s tab.
Once your bow is done, add the stick to sparkles anywhere they look pretty. I placed two in the corners.
Pens
You would think this was super easy to do and it should be, but I had a struggle. My pens would not come apart so I could remove the little silver pocket attachment. I had to work around the silly little thing.
For this tiny project, all you need is a pen and sparkly washi tape.
Start at the TOP of the pen and wrap the washi tape around to the bottom. That’s all their is to it. I tried to attach the tape starting from the bottom but wrecked the tape at the top trying to go underneath the silver clasp. I really recommend using a pen that comes apart so you can remove the clasp or be using a pen that doesn’t have one.
The Alligator Clips
I own both pink and pink polka dot alligator clips. To be honest I am the only one who uses these pink ones. But this is a post about adding bling and I have a shiny new craft room pegboard and I thought these might be cute to hang printables on it with.
Start with making simple little flowers, I used some leftover tulle pom poms but you can buy some pretty artificial flowers or tulle pom poms and skip this step.
Making the Pom Poms
To make the tulle pom poms, cut 10 circles 1.5 inches in diameter for each pom pom.
Lay two layers of the tulle down for a base.
Stack and then fold the next two circles into quarters. Fold the circle in half and in half again.
Glue the folded triangle with the pointed end to the center of the base and continue with the remaining tulle.
Attach the Pom Poms
With a needle and heavy thread, pull a double layer of heavy thread through your pom pom leaving two six inch tails.
Thread the tails through the silver clip portion and wrap one thread to the left and one to the right. Wrap the thread around the silver clip a couple of times on each side.
Tie the threads in a knot in the middle and then add hot glue to seal everything into place.
Attaching the pom pom with both heavy thread and glue makes it more stable and less likely to get pulled off during use.
These little clips are really adorable I think they would make great little gifts and you could colour code them for different topics.
The Scissors
We have three stories including the basement and a garage. The craft room is in the basement and I have a few different scissors down there, one with the wrapping, one with the embroidery stuff, one for the craft room, one for sewing and on the main floor there is a set in the kitchen.

Maybe its old age blindness or looking with both eyes closed but oh how I loathe searching for something that isn’t where it should be. These new oh so fancy scissors should at least be easy to see.
To make your own blinged-out scissors you will need:
Pretty scissors
Glittered ribbon
Bead for center
Small elastic
Needle and thread
Glue gun
Start with tying the ribbon, if you have small wired ribbon you can simply create a small bow. If your ribbon is like mine you will need to sew it like I illustrated earlier.
Glue a sparkly bead in the middle.
The ribbon in the picture is a bit larger than the one I used on the scissors but it was darker and showed better.
Fold the elastic around the scissor handle where you want the ribbon.
g
Pull one loop of the elastic through the other loop.
o
Place your ribbon on top, place one loop of the elastic over the left side of the bow and the other loop over the right side. The elastic will hold the ribbon softly so it’s not being knocked off while in use. I did not glue my bow to the scissors.
All of these little projects together took me roughly an hour to do, it would have been faster if I had wire ribbon on hand. I always find it so fun to work with glittery things and pretty colours. Putting the sparkly little crafts together was a really fun activity for a Saturday afternoon.
i need to have scissors in multiple places in my house (and in my car glove box) because sometimes that is the only tool that works. While I can usually find one when I need one, they are boring to look at. Thanks to you, that doesn’t have to be the case. Thanks for the BLING ideas.
Now those are some office supplies that will help you get stuff done! Pretty things make for a productive person, I think 😉
I love the sparkly pen DIY. So easy and cute! #DIDI
You had me at Sparkle! Loving the clipboard. We use those all the time here.
In the evenings I often work from the couch and find a clipboard really handy for making notes and holding the pen. If I don’t clip the pen to the clipboard down the cushion it seems to go. The extra bling just pegs it as girls only.
You had me at sparkly! 🙂 I bet it puts a smile on your face every time you see that pink cuteness! Love it!
Hi Carrie: I am the same way, I love feminine bling things. They were really really fun to make and I especially enjoy the little pom pom clips. Thank you for commenting.
All do femme and super cute! It’s so nice to have girlie stuff around. There’s something about it that really transforms your head space!
I had never thought about the change in head space, but your bang on correct. It makes me feel lighter and happier. Who can be sad around pink pom poms, I tell ya lol
Love a bit of bling! Such a nice way to add some fun to your office space!
It does do that Sam and I hope make the boys think twice before using them.
Those binder clips are adorable! Love these ideas 🙂
Since I started blogging I have printouts of all sorts of blogging lessons and the color coordinated pom pom alligator clip will help me keep them sorted and colour coded by topic. Thank you for commenting.
