How to Make a DIY Easter Wreath with Pom Poms

They won’t give you a dramatic or high-end look, but it’s a great way to add warmth, cheer, and a delightful handmade vibe to your Spring decor. This cute wreath craft is simple and budget-friendly using Dollar Tree Supplies. You can use a variety of supplies to make your wreath and you can use any on-hand item you have in your stash to make the Easter wreath DIY craft even less expensive.

​Materials

If you don’t have E-6000 glue you can substitute it for another super glue. I recommend looking for supplies at the Dollar Tree first and purchasing what you can’t find at a craft store.

Easter Bunny Wreath Instructions

​Step One – Make An Assortment of Pom Poms

It begins with making assorted pom poms in three different sizes and colors. You can create as many as you like, I used 13 pom poms in an array of pastel shades for Spring. There is lots of wool at the Dollar Tree, and use any wool you like, except for the extra thick-weight wools. Scrap wool from your stash is perfect as well.

To make my pom-poms, I used a pom-pom maker. I used Clover pom pom makers, but Dollar Tree carries some that are very similar. If you’re new to making pom poms, I’ve written an entire post on how to make perfect pom poms with the Clover pom pom maker. I used 13 pom poms in total 5- 2.5 inches, 4- 2 inches, and 4- 1 1/2 inches. But make whatever you like.

Once you have the pom poms created we can start making the pom pom wreath.

Step Two – Wrap the Wreath Form

I had this flat 12″ wooden wreath frame from Dollar Tree kicking around, but you could use any wreath form you have on hand. If you don’t have a wire wreath form consider substituting it with cardboard. Cut out two donut shapes the right size with a 12-inch outer circle and a 10-inch inner circle. Glue them together first to make the wreath form thick enough.

Begin on the backside by gluing the start of the rope with hot glue. Then continue wrapping the cording around the entire wreath form. My one package wasn’t enough, although I have a second package I knew the pom poms would cover it. You can save yourself some cording by not wrapping it the entire way.

Grab four of the larger pom poms and place glue along the bottom edge using a hot glue gun as shown. Make sure to cover the open part of the wreath that missing cording. Then stack the rest as you like.

Here is the finished wreath with all the pom poms placed on it. I just added them until it looked really puffy and full.

Step Three – The Easter Bunny Swing

This little Easter bunny is so cute and super easy to put together. I am going to play with some more ideas for these wire bead bunnies this Easter, they are beyond adorable.

Take two Jenga wood blocks from Dollar Tree or a small piece of wood about 1 by 2 inches. Glue the sides of the blocks jenga together to form the seat of the swing for the Easter bunny.

Cut two pieces of pink twine 3 feet long.

You must wrap the twine so that the seat stays level. Fold the first piece of twine in half. Place the halfway point in the center of the swing bottom, wrap one side to the left, around to the right, and the other side from the right under to the left. Hold it in place and glue it with E6000. Set it aside while the glue hardens, while we start making the Easter bunny.

1 Cut a piece of paper-covered wire two feet long, twist two small feet, cut off, and set aside.

2. Take two beads 3/4 inch and 1/2 inch beads. Cut a piece of paper-covered wire about a foot long

3. Fold the wire in half. Twist the halfway point fold to form a knot (that looks similar to a tail.) Feed both sides of the wire through the larger bead. Place a dab of hot glue on top. Then wire through the top bead.

4 Fold the bunny ears, then feed the wires back into the bead hole. The wire will feed down quite a way down into the bead. Once you have the ears in equal sizes add glue to seal the rest of the hole. Let cool. Tweak the ears.

5. Attach the bunny to the seat with hot glue.

6. Your finished Easter Bunny.

Hanging the Easter Bunny on a Swing

As the wreath will be hanging, finish making the wreath somewhere convenient before attaching the swing. I didn’t want to lay the wreath flat only to hang it and have the Easter bunny flop over. So hang the wreath first, then tie one side with a bow, you can adjust. Repeat on the other side. Once you have the cord adjusted so that the bunny hangs nicely, make knots, trim the ends, and glue them in place.

Step Four – Add a Twine Bow

Wrap the twine cord into six-inch circles 10 times. I used a large jar for this. Then tie the middle with two long ends and glue to the wreath.
