Lemon Spritzer Drink Recipe
Lemonade Spritzer with Vodka or Not
A lemon spritzer is an iced drink made with fruit juice and a sparkling tonic or soda water. A spritzer can be made with or without alcohol. This lemon spritzer can be served as a mocktail or spiked with vodka as an adult lemon cocktail. Any way you try it, it’s a delicious lemon drink.
I love a lemon ice drink served cold on a summer day its so thirst-quenching and refreshing. The addition of sparkling water adds nice thirst-quenching bubbles and fizz. It’s a nice update from regular lemonade.
You can make this special lemon drink starting with simple sugar syrup or using sugar-free stevia. then finishing it with cold sparkling water.
Lemon Spritzer Ingredients
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (or stevia)
- 1 c. water
- 2 large lemons
- 1/3 c. fresh lemon juice
- 2 teaspoon fresh lemon zest
- 2 tbsp fresh mint, washed and torn into pieces
- 2 cups sparkling water
- 2 thyme sprigs (optional for garnish)
Optional Adults-Only Cocktail Version
- 4 oz. vodka
Lemon Spritzer Directions
Make the Simple Syrup
Place the granulated sugar and water into a small saucepan over medium heat. Heat to a simmer stirring frequently until the sugar dissolves.
Remove the sugar water from the heat and let cool for 5-10 minutes before pouring into a pitcher.
Prepare the Lemons
Cut slices out of the middle of both lemons and set aside for garnish.
Zest the remaining lemon ends and then squeeze to get 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice.
Mix the Lemon Spritzer
Add the fresh lemon juice and lemon slices to the pitcher.
If using, add the vodka to the pitcher and stir gently to combine. Place in the refrigerator to chill.
Separately place sparkling water in the fridge to chill as well. I suggest leaving it for about two hours.
Serving the Lemon Spritzer
Just before serving remove the pitcher from the fridge, pour the cold sparkling water into the pitcher of lemon, and stir to combine.
Fill tall pretty glasses with ice cubes, fill from the pitcher, and garnish with lemon slices.
