Tulips Arrangement Ideas for Spring

Tulip Arrangements for Spring

Fresh Spring flowers are finally in the supermarkets in Edmonton and so much nicer than the several feet of snow we have in our front yard.   Spring flowers from the supermarket are pretty inexpensive,  so I bought three small bouquets of tulips and decided to share two modern tulip arrangement ideas for Spring or Easter decor.

Let me start by saying tossing a dozen tulips in a pretty vase is always pretty, so treat yourself.   But if you want to do something a bit different here is simple tutorials on ways you can arrange those oh so wonderful Spring flowers.

For this arrangement, you can use whatever jars or little vases you can find.  Jelly jars with a checkered napkin would work as well, or beautiful milk glass small vases, any vases you like that coordinate with one another.  Just make sure your vases are small, mine were all less than six inches high.

Supplies

Besides the small vases you will need:

A large pedestal tray glass or wood or galvanized.

Fresh tulips (I used 7)

Three elastic bands

Make sure all your supplies are clean, and if you got flower fresh with your flowers mix it up into a large container.

Fill your vases with water to equal levels.  Line the vases up and make sure the water levels as even as possible.  Set aside.

Select and separate your tulips into 3 groups, taller, medium and short.

Starting with the tallest flowers decide how tall you want the arrangement to be.  ( for example tall 10″, mid-height 8″, and short 6″.  Starting with the small bundle place one tulip taller and the other one shorter, snip so that the tallest one is ten inches high.  Carefully remove any leaves that would be cut off and set them aside.  Wrap the end in an elastic band.

To make the pretty bundles, take one of the leaves (if the leaf is longer than six inches cut the wide end but leave the pointed end of the leaf uncut).

Starting with the wide end of the leaf hold it in place and wrap the leaf around the base of the flowers making sure to cover the elastic.

When you reach the end, secure the end with a small pin in an angle so the pin end is buried inside the stem bunder. You will find that the little pinheads almost disappear. Add a second pin.

Repeat this process for the other two little flower groupings.

Group them together onto a pedestal plate.  Tall at back and the other two heights on either side.

Thank you, Marie. Eons ago I remembered seeing some bridal bouquets done up that way. So, of course, I figured out a way to DIY it.

  3. This is a sweet arrangement. You are showing us we can have fun with flowers instead of plunking them in a vase.

Thank Debra. Flowers really are so fun to arrange. I always want to say Spring flowers are my favorite, but I love so many different kinds. I guess that pretty typical.
