Fall Floral Arrangement with Lights
Apothecary jars are so versatile, I have several of them in various sizes and use them often. There is still a jar filled with various dry goods in different fall colours from a few years ago but as lights are my theme for this fall it wasn’t what I had in mind. Rummaging around in the storage room I choose a globe shaped apothecary jar because it reminds me of a pumpkin.
When apothecary jars first became popular I would light them up with string lights and add artificial snow to the bottom. Unfortunately, it was nearly impossible to hide the string up the back of the jar and then plug it into the wall behind furniture. I did my best with tall backgrounds and cloth runners but you had to just pretend the light string wasn’t showing. They were pretty but the strings were a real drawback.

I was absolutely gleeful when the battery operated lights came out, no long heavy light strings to hide but now we have the battery pack to contend with. Its really simple to hide the battery pack by burying it in artificial snow or some sort of rock, marble or grain. The problem is finding the battery pack to turn off the lights; its really difficult to dig around looking for that teeny off switch and keep your arrangement intact.
At the same time a clear container is perfect for highlighting the lights, but of course everything in the clear globe is visible.
I found a way around that.

Small branches
Florists wire
Large orange flower
Small teal flowers
Long thin teal florals
Filling the Globe
Before you start make sure you have well charged batteries in the battery pack. Remove all tags from the flowers and lights. I won’t admit it, but theoretically, you could complete your entire arrangement and only then notice a price tag.
Place small branches around the inside of the bowl. If you have any little bits that break off, flip the bowl over and gently shake them out.
Choose whatever flower you want to be the central flower of your arrangement. Judge what length you need it to be and trim the flower accordingly. Do the same with a small branch.
The branch will support the flower stem, wrap them together using florists wire. Take the battery pack and snuggle it in underneath the flower. Wrap the battery pack tightly with florists wire so it stays just under the flower. Set aside.

Wrap some of the lights into a circle and place in the bottom of the glass globe, make another circle of lights on top of the branches. Leave the remaining lights to hang outside of the globe.

The Flower Arrangement
Place three orange flowers around the central flower.a

Next, add smaller teal flowers between each of the large orange flowers.
Weave the remaining lights through the flowers.
Add hanging blue flowers around the edge of the globe so that they cascade down.
Finally, add some small branches on the top to tie in with the ones in the globe.

Our kitchen is still in disarray so this little arrangement well be hidden upstairs until everything is back together. I love the look of the lights inside the globe it is going to be so pretty in the darker evenings. What do you think, I would love your feedback.

I like how you used the fish bowl/vase in a different way. I’ve been playing around with tiny lights for several years now. Once when coming back from a pole vaulting trip to Reno, Nevada, my hubby and son and I stopped at Cabela’s just outside of Reno and I found some branches with lights on them. Loved them so brought them home!

Yes the lights are a little set of fall leaves. I also have some larger acorn ones, but these tiny ones work better in the small arrangement. Glad you like it.
