Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice Recipe
This homemade pumpkin pie spice recipe is very easy to make and so convenient to have on hand when pumpkin spice season arrives. I love having this pumpkin pie spice mix ready for baking, homemade lattes, or even sprinkling over roasted vegetables. It is much easier to grab one jar than measure out all the individual spices every time.
Warm and aromatic, pumpkin pie spice is a classic blend made with spices you likely already have on hand. I never used a premade spice mix until recipes started calling for pumpkin pie spice instead of listing the individual spices. Figuring out the right amounts each time became a hassle, so now I make my own homemade pumpkin pie spice and keep it ready to use.
As an old-school cook, I was resistant to buying yet another spice mix. Once I started making my own pumpkin pie spice and saw how much easier it was to have a premade mix on hand, I wished I had started making it years ago.

Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice Recipe
All you need are four or five spices, a small bowl, and a jar to store your homemade pumpkin pie spice. It takes about two minutes to mix together and is much quicker than measuring several individual spices every time you bake.
Ingredients for Pumpkin Spice
3 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon
2 1/2 teaspoons ginger
2 1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
1 1/2 teaspoons allspice
Optional: If you like cloves in your pumpkin pie spice, reduce the allspice to 1 teaspoon and add 1/2 teaspoon cloves.

Cheaper spices tend to be milder and may not have as much flavour as higher quality spices.
How to Make Pumpkin Pie Spice
Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl and stir well until the pumpkin pie spice is evenly blended.

Storing Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice
Transfer your homemade pumpkin pie spice to a small airtight container and store it with your other spices. When stored properly, the spice mix will keep for up to six months. If you are using a mason jar, simply spoon the mixture into the jar. For a smaller spice jar, a funnel makes it much easier to transfer the pumpkin pie spice without making a mess.
